Product Information -

Pea coat made from a heavy-weight 30oz melton wool cloth, cut and finished to the high standard that is expected of Saint James. The Pavois is an authentic dark navy pea coat, fully lined with a double thickness collar and features a chin guard and moulded resin buttons.

The peacoat: worn by the sailors of European navies and French seamen for over two hundred years. Its success across the centuries is an example of form following function: the quality of the garment ensured its durability in the unforgiving environs of an open deck at sea, and the simple yet distinctive aesthetic has led the garment to become a classic, outlasting the wearer and passing from father to son. Wearing the peacoat, at the harbourside or city's edge, you'll feel the same appreciation as all those who have worn one before you.

Saint James clothing was born in 1889 in the town of its namesake, located a few miles from the sea, and close to Mont Saint-Michel in Southern Normandy. The Saint James story began when the Legallais family started to spin and dye the local wool and sell the skeins and wool balls to the shops of Brittany and Normandy, later spinning the wool into shirts for the fishermen. Leon Legallais, the then mayor or Saint-James transformed this workshop into a large industry and in 1929 the company went public.
